*This week we are learning:
Reading/Writing
We are learning the “L” sound. At home, please review the following words: make, cake, take, and words that start with the “wh” letter pattern. Test Friday!

Math
This week we will be continuing money! Again, Please, please, please work on this at home! We need extra practice! We will be counting pennies, nickels, and dimes together and introducing the quarter. Test Friday!

Language Arts
This week we are continuing compound words. Test Friday.

It's almost Thanksgiving! 11/17/08-11/21/08

Next week, November 24-28, is Thanksgiving Holidays. There will be no school on these days! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families!

Here are the highlights for this week:

This week, we are learning the following:
Reading/Writing
We are reviewing the “k” sound and words that start with “k”. At home, please continue to review the following words: weeds, seeds, sees, hand, sand, ants, mist, mints. Some are having trouble identifying these words in their reading. Test on Friday!

Math
This week we will be learning about patterns within addition and subtraction. Test Friday!

Language Arts
This week we are learning about adjectives - describing words. We will learn how to add adjectives to sentences to make them more interesting. We will also be able to pick out adjectives in sentences.
Test Friday!

What We're Learning This Week:

Reading/Writing
We are reviewing the “sh” sound and words that start with “sh”. At home, please review the following words: weeds, seeds, sees, hand, sand, ants, mist, mints. Test on Friday!

Math
This week, we are continuing greater than, less than, and equal with two-digit numbers.. We will be learning how to add three digits. Test Friday!

Language Arts
We are now learning about different types of sentences! Last week, we learned question sentences and the question mark. This week, we will review exclamatory sentences and the exclamation mark.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Cookie Dough fundraiser! We had great results and we know our school will greatly benefit from it!

Field Trip!

Friday, October 24, we took a field trip to the Natural Science Museum. What a great place! The kids really loved it and learned many great things! Here are some pictures from the day and some of the things we saw:

Happy October!

Thank you so much Moms and Dads for coming to eat lunch with us this week! Please mark your calendars for next month - Lunch with Moms - Nov. 3; Lunch with Dad's - Nov. 7.

This months' PTA meeting is Tuesday night, October 7 at 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend and dues are $10.00!

Here is what is happening this week:

*Reading
We are reviewing “W” sound, and words that start with “W”. We will also work on the letters t, e, M, a, w; the words we, mat, was, need, and; the sentence we are working on is “He was mad at me.” Test on Friday!

*Math
This week, we are reviewing counting to 100 by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s, graphing, tally marks, and addition/ subtraction. Nine weeks test Wednesday!

*Language Arts
This week we are continuing ABC order. Continue working on capitals letters and periods in sentences!

*Homework
Tuesday – Read Well homework; noun and editing sentences worksheet

Wednesday – Read Well homework

Thursday – Read Well homework; math homework

Friday – Read Well homework

It's a new week!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Here is what's going on in our class this week:

*Reading/Writing:

- the letter "t" and words that begin with the letter "t"

- In handwriting, we are reviewing the letters t, ne, e, th; the words and, an, that, meet, sat; the sentence we are reviewing is "An ant sat on the mat." Test Friday!

*Math

- This week, we are reviewing all of the skills we have learned so far. This includes counting to 100 by 2's, 5's, and 10's; tally marks; graphing; and addition/subtraction. Test Friday!

*Language Arts

- We are continuing ABC order. We are also continuing to edit sentences that need correct spelling, puncuation, and capitalization. Test Friday!
